Because of course, lots of people lost their savings in 2001, or at least lost the interest on it. I guess it's better to try than not to try, but I did what they are describing and I am lucky because the amount I ended up rolling into an IRA in 2000 stayed the same in 2001. A former co-worker had retired and lost so much that year in his mutual fund IRA that he had to go back to work! Anyway, one place that can be helpful is bankrate.com. Another idea might be to put the money into an INGDirect.com account until you make the minimum for a mutual fund account opening. And bear in mind that mutual funds aren't guaranteed. You will most likely come out ahead but it's slightly risky.Marie Javinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12632729774717864231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34190295.post-22125877737888135302006-11-20T17:29:00.000-08:002006-11-20T17:29:00.000-08:00Thanks so much Hitomi! According to their website, you can borrow "up to 10 books and 3 CDs for two weeks" for free! (Don't forget to take your gaikokujin registration to get a member card or something though.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
